Class Descriptions
The Sanskrit words ha (sun) and tha (moon) are combined to make the world Hatha. Hatha yoga is the practice of physical well being that aims to unite our polarities. It harmonizes any polarities and conflicts through postures that work on body, mind and the soul. Hatha Yoga explores a different way of peeling back the layers, overcoming emotional stress and revealing the true self. We offer a variety of Hatha yoga styles and encourage you to explore to find what meets your needs best. Students are encouraged students to feel alignment from within.


Hatha Yoga (Gentle)
Gentle Yoga takes a very soothing approach to classical hatha yoga postures and stretches. Gentle warm-ups and stretching, and some restorative work, help you move mindfully and easefully into poses. If you are looking for a calm, relaxing way to destress; or for people managing health conditions or recovering from injuries. Chairs are available and can be used to practice. This class is great for those new to yoga, for people managing health conditions, recovering from injuries or just want to balance out with a gentle practice.

Hatha Yoga I-II
Building off of the Gentle Classes by adding a greater variety of more challenging poses. This class is still accessible to beginners while offering a slightly more vigorous class environment for those entering a level II class. Mastery of our Classical Hatha Classes is great preparation for our faster moving Yoga Flow offerings. These classes teach basic practices including breath awareness and control (pranayama), some standing, balancing, and floor postures (asana) as well as introduction to level II postures. Class ends with relaxation/meditation (dhyana) techniques. It is recommended that students start with Gentle or Level I before advancing to Level II classes.

Hatha Yoga II
Hatha Yoga II is for continuing students and more seasoned practitioners to develop strength, stamina, and flexibility in a joyful and purposeful way. We focus on deepening understanding of the fundamental poses and learning more challenging poses, going within to the inner, energetic body. Class will begin with modified sun salutations and may include more focus on meditation. Modifications are offered to honor the unique abilities and limitations of each student.

Hatha Yoga II-III
This class is appropriate for seasoned practitioners with a regular practice who are looking to go deeper. This class regularly incorporates breath awareness and challenging Hatha postures, as well as more advanced poses standing and seated postures, arm balances, heart opening backbends, inversions (including headstands). We focus on deepening understanding of the fundamental poses and learning more challenging poses, going within to the inner, energetic body. Class will begin with modified sun salutations and may include more focus on meditation. Modifications are offered to honor the unique abilities and limitations of each student. Attendance of a Level II class is required before attending Level III.

Hatha Yoga I (Yoga Flow)
Hatha Yoga Flow I-II is for those new to flow and students ready to move up to a level II class. This class teaches correct alignment of fundamental postures and correct flow to gradually build a safe flowing practice Ujayi breathing and short meditation. This class teaches correct alignment of postures to gradually build a safe flowing practice of sun salutations, standing postures and some seated and twisting postures as well as introduction to level II postures. Ujayi breathing and short meditation are incorporated. Attendance of a Hatha I or II class is recommended before attending this class.

Benefits: increased strength and flexibility, reduced stress levels, weight loss, increased energy and a deeper connection with breathing, discover a meditative state in the motion that clears the find, balance energy, deepen focus and concentration.

Hatha Yoga Flow I-II
For those new to flow and students ready to move up to a level II class. This class teaches correct alignment of fundamental postures and correct flow to gradually build a safe flowing practice Ujayi breathing and short meditation. This class teaches correct alignment of postures to gradually build a safe flowing practice of sun salutations, standing postures and some seated and twisting postures as well as introduction to level II postures. Ujayi breathing and short meditation are incorporated. Attendance of a Hatha I or II class is recommended before attending this class.

Hatha Yoga II (Yoga Flow)
Hatha Yoga Flow II is appropriate for intermediate students with a regular practice who wish to deepen and expand their practice on a physical and energetic level. This class regularly incorporates breath work (Pranayama) and challenging flow sequences, as well as revolved poses, seated postures, some arm balances, backbends, and inversions.

Benefits: awaken body-awareness, increases balance and creates strength and flexibility, balances and strengthens the systems of the body, increases mindfulness, weight loss, increased energy and a deeper connection with breathing, discover a meditative state in the motion that clears the find, balance energy, deepen focus and concentration.

Hatha Yoga Flow II-III
Appropriate for intermediate students with a regular practice who wish to deepen and expand their practice on a physical and energetic level through yoga flow. This class regularly incorporates breath work (Pranayama) and challenging flow sequences, as well as revolved poses, seated postures, arm balances, backbends, inversions, introduction and incorporation of level III postures.

Benefits: awaken body-awareness, increases balance and creates strength and flexibility, balances and strengthens the systems of the body, increases mindfulness, weight loss, increased energy and a deeper connection with breathing, discover a meditative state in the motion that clears the find, balance energy, deepen focus and concentration.

Hatha Yoga Flow II-III (HOT)
Some like it hot! This class is similar to the II-III class above with the detoxing and body warming benefits of heat.

Hatha Yoga Flow III (Ashtanga Inspired)
This Hatha Yoga Flow III is appropriate for seasoned practitioners with a regular practice who are looking for the next level. This class regularly incorporates breath work (Pranayama) and challenging Ashtanga inspired flow sequences in, as well as more advanced revolved poses with binding, seated postures, arm balances, backbends, inversions (including headstands and some handstands). Ends with meditation practice. Attendance of a Level II class is required before attending Level III.

Hatha Yoga (Slow Flow)
Slow Flow Yoga is a Hatha yoga practice of flowing postures to awaken self-awareness of the body through a gentle, but deep approach to classical yoga. There is an emphasis on breathing and relaxation, while linking one pose to the next. This class introduces the fundamentals of breathing and relaxing, while linking one pose to the next in shorter flow sequences. Perfect for beginners and those who are looking for a review, the emphasis of this class is on body awareness, inner strength and easeful opening. Our teachers encourage students to feel alignment from within.

Happy Hour Yoga (I-II): Lighten up, it’s Happy Hour Yoga! These are fun and engaging classes to improve strength, flexibility and meditative focus. Each class votes for gentle, hatha or yoga flow. This class combines Levels I & II offering basic instruction and modifications for beginners but also challenging enough for seasoned practitioners. Please attend a level I class before attending Happy Hour Yoga.

CHILDREN’S YOGA (6week series): 45 minutes of fun for kids! Parent’s are encouraged to participate. See Children’s tab for age groups and series info.
Prenatal Yoga

Teen Yoga (6week series): A Yoga Class designed specifically for the needs of teens.

Prenatal Yoga:
Prepares women physically, mentally, and emotionally for the natural process of childbirth. Increases strength, stamina, flexibility and body awareness, as it reduces fatigue and improves relaxation. It can be beneficial for every stage of pregnancy and does not require yoga experience. Class size is limited

Mommy and Me Yoga:
Mommy and Me Yoga classes offer a unique opportunity for any caregiver to bond with their baby while both enjoy the benefits of yoga. This class is intended for babies birth – walking. This class will assist mom in regaining her pre-pregnancy state while aiding those muscles strained while caring for a baby. We focus on patience and flexibility – two attributes needed both on and off the mat. Yoga helps babies with their development, sleep and digestion. Those babies nearing the age of two should consider the children’s 2-4 yoga class.
