Class Descriptions
The Sanskrit words ha (sun) and tha (moon) are combined to make
the world Hatha. Hatha yoga is the physical
practice of
yoga. Through postures we work on body,
mind and the soul. Hatha Yoga explores a different way of
peeling back the layers, overcoming emotional stress, preparing
the body for stillness in order to reveal the true self. We offer a
variety of Hatha yoga styles and encourage you to explore our
classes and teachers to find what's right for you. Students are
encouraged explore their postures and feel alignment from within.
Classes
are appropriate for ALL LEVELS. Modifications will be offered
in each class for the beginner to the advanced practitioner - it is
up to you to go at YOUR pace and level. We welcome you to go deeper
but discourage pushing beyond your edge.
Hatha Yoga (Gentle)
Gentle Yoga takes a very soothing approach to classical hatha
yoga postures and stretches. Gentle warm-ups and stretching, and
some restorative work, help you move mindfully and easefully
into poses. If you are looking for a calm, relaxing way to
de-stress; or for people managing health conditions or recovering
from injuries. Chairs are available and can be used to practice.
This class is great for those new to yoga, for people managing
health conditions, recovering from injuries or just want to
balance out with a gentle practice.
Hatha Yoga (classical postures)
Building off of the Gentle class, our Hatha Yoga classes start
with modified sun salutations to warm up and heat the body. Postures
are classically hatha and are accessible to all levels. Find a new
challenge in holding postures longer; offering time to 'feel' and
become comfortable. Holding postures in a Hatha class is great for
the busy person who is always rushing and thinking - offering the
balance here of sloooowing down. This pace is much more challenging
than a flow class for this person since it goes against their
natural rhythms challenging the mind to move past the chatter and
into stillness. Mastery of our
Classical Hatha Classes is great preparation for our faster
moving Yoga Flow offerings. These classes teach basic practices
including breath awareness and control (pranayama), some
standing, balancing, and floor postures (asana) as well as
introduction to higher level postures (depending on the class). Class ends with
relaxation/meditation (dhyana) techniques.
Indian Classical Hatha Yoga

Indian Classical Hatha style. Fundamentals of classical hatha yoga

strengthens the systems of the body, increases mindfulness,

mental awareness, brings your focus into the present moment.
Hatha Yoga (Slow Flow)
Slow Flow Yoga is the missing link that connects the Classical
Hatha class to the Yoga Flow Class introducing the fundamentals of
vinyasa at a slower pace. There is an emphasis on breathing and
relaxation, while linking one pose to the next. Perfect for
beginners and those who are looking for a review, the emphasis of
this class is on body awareness, inner strength and easeful opening.
Hatha Yoga Flow (vinyasa)
Hatha Yoga Flow classes build on the Hatha and Slow Flow classes
focusing on correct
alignment of fundamental postures and invigorating flow
sequencing to gradually
build a safe flowing practice, Ujayi breathing and meditation. Attendance of a Hatha
Yoga or Slow Flow class
is recommended before attending this class.

flexibility, reduced stress levels, weight loss, increased
energy and a deeper connection with breathing, discover a
meditative state in the motion that clears the find, balance
energy, deepen focus and concentration.
Happy Hour Yoga
Lighten up, it’s Happy Hour Yoga! These are fun and engaging

Kundalini Yoga
Kundalini Yoga is
the Yoga of Awareness, it combines breath-work, postures, dynamic
movement, mantra, meditation and relaxation. Like other yoga’s its
goal is to activate the kundalini, the energy of consciousness, the
awareness of the higher self. This powerful and effective form of
Yoga, as taught by Yogi Bhajan, is a great way to recharge and heal
your body quickly. It stimulates the nervous and immune systems and
works to improve strength and flexibility, as it centers the mind
and opens the spirit.
Ashtanga Yoga
Ashtanga (the
8 limbed path) Yoga is a system of yoga transmitted to the modern
world by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. This athletic style of yoga involves
synchronizing the breath with a progressive series of postures—a
process producing internal heat and a purifying sweat that
detoxifies muscles and organs. The result is improved circulation, a
light and strong body, and a calm mind. Our classes focus on the
primary series, called Yoga Chikitsa, which means yoga therapy. This
practice works to realign the spine, detoxify the body, and build
strength, flexibility and stamina. Class begins with sun salutations
(surya namaskara A and surya namaskara B) and moving on to standing
poses, seated poses, inversions and backbends before relaxation.
Iyengar
Yoga
Iyengar yoga
as introduced by B.K.S Iyengar is based on the eight limbed yoga
path. This alignment focused practice shows us how to become aware
of our imbalances and then teaches how to correct them.
These classes introduce basic postures and alignment principles.
Modifications will be made for those who need it. Relaxation, or
Savasana, will also be practiced.
Meditation Class
